Buying a Used Citroën ë-C3 Aircross (2025 on): 44 or 54 kWh, Brake Recalls, Range & What to Check

By Elace Grace··7 min read

The Citroën ë-C3 Aircross is a small electric SUV related to the ë-C3 hatchback. It reached UK showrooms in February 2025 with prices from £22,990, followed later that year by a longer-range version. Nearly all used examples are low-mileage 2025 cars, with asking prices around £16,500–£18,000. We cover the versions, recalls (including two concerning the brakes), warranty, realistic range and prices to pay. You will find a print-out checklist at the end.

The short version
  • Best value: a 2025 Standard Range Max at around £16,800, typically showing around 6,000 miles.
  • Range: the Standard Range is rated for 188 miles; the Extended Range offers 249 and suits longer journeys better, but is uncommon used.
  • Brake recalls: two recalls affect the brake pedal and brake bar on 2025-built cars. Check that both have been completed.
  • Plenty of warranty left: battery cover lasts until 2033 for cars registered in 2025.

Which ë-C3 Aircross are you looking at?

Listings identify the battery as “Standard Range 44kWh” or “Extended Range 54kWh”, followed by trim: PLUS, MAX, then later Collection and Outdoor for the Extended Range:

  • Standard Range: 44 kWh and 188 miles official range, sold from February 2025.
  • Extended Range: 54 kWh and up to 249 miles, orderable from August 2025.

Both versions use lithium iron phosphate batteries and an 83 kW motor, with rapid charging up to 100 kW. Complete specifications are on the Citroën ë-C3 Aircross page.

Warranty

Citroën covers the battery for 8 years or 100,000 miles from first registration. New-car cover is shorter, so establish the remaining warranty and any additional protection supplied by an approved-used warranty.

Recalls

  • Brake bar welding (2025): 263 cars produced between June and August 2025. A weld on the brake bar could fail, potentially causing a complete loss of braking.
  • Brake pedal (2025): 1,890 cars produced from June to November 2025. A missing or incorrectly fitted pin could allow the brake pedal to loosen.
  • Alarm (2026): a software problem could activate the alarm by itself while the car is locked.

These recalls are recorded under C3 Aircross and may include petrol and hybrid cars. Check the individual vehicle using GOV.UK’s recall checker and request a printed recall history from a Citroën dealer.

Safety

We found no Euro NCAP rating for the current ë-C3 Aircross during our October 2026 check. The stars you may see quoted refer to the previous C3 Aircross instead.

Realistic range

Our estimates for typical examples of each version use the battery-ageing model applied throughout the rest of EVcarsguide:

CarSummerYear-roundWinter
2025 Standard Range 44 kWh158 miles140 miles117 miles
2026 Extended Range 54 kWh211 miles185 miles156 miles

These assume mild-weather range of around 85% of the official figure with a healthy battery. Owner reports are not yet numerous enough for comparison.

What owners report

There is not yet sufficient ë-C3 Aircross owner discussion for a summary. Owners of its smaller sibling report that setting up timed home charging with smart tariffs can take some work. Try this with the seller if it matters to you.

What to pay

Over a third of advertised ë-C3 Aircrosses are new or delivery-mileage cars. Only used examples appear in the table; used Extended Range listings are still too scarce for their own row.

Treat these as asking prices, not valuations. New examples qualify for the Electric Car Grant:

Questions to ask the seller

  1. Can the seller confirm the battery version and trim fitted to this car using its specification records?
  2. Have both brake recalls been checked and done?
  3. Is the Citroën service history complete, and was it a demonstrator or hire car?
  4. Which charging cables are included, and can the seller demonstrate that they work with this car?
