About EVcarsguide

An independent UK electric vehicle comparison site, built to help you find the right EV by the specs that actually matter.

What is EVcarsguide?

EVcarsguide is an independent comparison site dedicated to electric vehicles available in the UK. We cover every EV on sale, on pre-order, or upcoming from manufacturers selling in the British market.

The site exists because most car comparison tools bury the practical details that actually determine whether a car fits your life - things like length, width with mirrors, boot space, and turning circle. We put those dimensions front and centre.

Who runs it?

Elace GraceFounder & Editor, EVcarsguide

Elace Grace is the founder and editor of EVcarsguide. His interest in electrified vehicles started with a Toyota Prius in 2012, followed by a Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV as his first plug-in hybrid in 2019. In 2021 he bought his first fully electric car, a used 2015 Renault Zoe for £5,500, and quickly found that EVs were not just environmentally sound but genuinely fun to drive and cheaper to run than expected.

Since then he has driven a range of electric cars including a Kia e-Niro, Kia Soul EV, Ford Mustang Mach-E, Renault Scenic, and Vauxhall Corsa-e, on everything from UK commutes to long European road trips through France, Spain, and Mallorca.

Elace is a web technologist and data specialist based in the UK who built this site to solve a problem he kept running into: most car comparison tools bury the practical details that determine whether a car actually fits your life. Things like length, width with mirrors, and whether a 6'2" driver has enough headroom.

Every spec on the site is sourced directly from manufacturer websites wherever possible and manually reviewed before publication. EVcarsguide is independently funded and operated with no investors, manufacturer partnerships, or sponsorships influencing what gets published.

Elace writes about EV data, buying trends, and the practicalities of switching to electric.

Why size-first?

When you're choosing an EV, the battery and range numbers are easy to find on any review site. But knowing whether a car will actually fit in your garage, down your street, or hold your family's luggage? That's harder. EVcarsguide was built to answer those questions first.

Every vehicle page leads with physical dimensions - length, width, height, wheelbase, boot capacity, and ground clearance - because those are the specs most likely to determine whether a car works in your day-to-day life.

How we source data

All vehicle specifications are sourced directly from manufacturer websites. We don't copy from third-party databases, review sites, or aggregators. Every data point is manually reviewed before it goes live.

You can read the full details on our data methodology page.

Why the cars are illustrations

You'll notice the vehicles here are drawn rather than photographed. That's partly practical and partly deliberate. As an independent site we don't have the budget to license a press photo for every EV on sale, and stitching together a gallery of mismatched manufacturer shots - different angles, lighting, and backgrounds - makes for messy comparisons.

Drawing each car in the same consistent style means every vehicle sits in the same visual language, so when you put two or three side by side you're comparing the cars, not the photography. It also lets us overlay true, to-scale dimensions cleanly - which, given this whole site is built around size, matters rather a lot to us.

  • Owner sentiment aggregated from forums and communities

Independence and editorial policy

EVcarsguide does not accept payment or sponsorship to influence rankings, scores, or editorial content. Our scoring algorithms are transparent and calculated from the specification data - no manual overrides, no pay-to-rank.

Some of our outbound links - for example to dealerships, leasing providers, or charging partners - are affiliate links, meaning we may earn a commission if you go on to buy or sign up. This never costs you anything extra, and it never affects which cars we feature, how we score them, or where they rank. Affiliate revenue helps keep EVcarsguide free to use; our rankings and scores are calculated purely from specification data. See our disclaimer and affiliate disclosure for full details.

Our crawler: EVGuideBot

The used prices on EVcarsguide come from the public stock pages of a small number of UK used EV dealers. Our crawler, EVGuideBot, reads them at most once a night (or once a week where a site asks us to go slower), one request at a time. It says who it is in every request, follows each site's robots.txt including any crawl delay, and backs off when a site tells it to. If you run one of these sites and would rather it didn't visit, block EVGuideBot in your robots.txt or let us knowand we'll stop.
